West Park Oval - Home of the Dockers
Has a capacity of about 12,000 and is egg-shaped. Located just next to the Bass strait in Burnie and can get quite cold,
especially for night games with it's local (NTFL) standard lights (4 towers). Has a cycling track surrounding the entire
oval and has three stands, two of which are quite small with the main (big) stand being undercover on the broadcast wing.
The biggest open stand on the outer (southern) wing is located behind the grass hill which covers the whole wing. The other
stand is very small and is located in the south-eastern corner of the ground. The scoreboard is situated behind the eastern
goals. The record crowd at the ground was 10,547 at the AFL gala day in 1992. The crowd watched an NTFL, TFL and AFL
match and the AFL match was a thriller, with Carlton defeating St Kilda by 10 points.
